This Thursday 31 in the morning, members of the City Police evicted the Espacio Cultural Bonpland (located at 1600 Bonpland St., in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Palermo) and the community dining room where more than 300 homeless people were fed daily.
“Since 6 in the morning, a strong operation cut the whole street and, without presenting any order or explanation, they entered by force to the space where a community dining room and a popular theater have been operating for more than 20 years, and began to destroy and take everything, despite being authorized by the same Government of the City”, denounced an activist from the space.
And they added: “we denounce this attack, which according to Jorge Macri himself points against illegal political activities’, as a political persecution that seeks to break community ties and end the popular culture in a neighborhood that the government seeks to turn into a place exclusively for foreign tourism”.

The Federal Police arrested during Thursday afternoon a militant of the Frente de Izquierda (Left Front) who was handing out flyers in the central hall of Constitución train station for the campaign of the Buenos Aires legislative elections, which has Nicolás del Caño at the head of the list for the Third Electoral Section.
“Are they forbidding electoral campaigning to the opposition? It is a democratic right to hand out flyers and disseminate proposals. Release him now!“, demanded Del Caño in the networks. The young man was released shortly after, without explanations from the security forces or the Ministry in charge of Patricia Bullrich.
“Why do you want to take him away?”, “What is the problem?”, “Why are you doing this?”, can be heard in the images captured. In the one-minute video that circulated through the networks, it can be seen how an agent of the Federal Police takes the young man by force, with the leaflets of the Frente de Izquierda in his hands. From the central hall the policeman drags him to the turnstile area to take him to the staff building at the train station and detain him.
“We are handing out leaflets,” the detainee tried to explain as he was dragged away. As he passed the turnstile, two other officers joined in, pushing and shoving him and without any explanation for the rest of the militants, who were trying to find reasons for what had happened: “There is democracy! We are in an electoral campaign! Where are they taking him to?“
When the video began to circulate, the leaders of the Frente de Izquierda (Left Front) spoke out on networks to demand the release. “From that delegation of the Federal that is in the hall of the station left the police responsible for the murder of Mariano Ferreyra in 2010, convicted along with Pedraza and his gang. Now, they prevent the left from spreading their ideas, as if political parties were forbidden and the minimum constitutional guarantees did not apply“, denounced Myriam Bregman.
Meanwhile, PO leader Romina del Plá demanded the “immediate release of the FITU militants! They are not going to take us out of the streets. The Frente de izquierda continues to add support and that is what bothers the powers that be“, claimed the former national deputy.
While the officers of the Federal Police took the militant away, the video shows how private security personnel of the company “Hunter” removed the posters of the electoral campaign of the FIT with the slogan “The opposition that does not compromise!” and an audio of the candidate Del Caño is heard in the background: “The caste is partying and those who pay for this brutal adjustment are the working majorities”.
Two hours after the arrest, the militant was released and together with his comrades recorded a video to the cry of “Unity of the workers! And whoever doesn’t like it, fuck you, fuck you!“. “After the arrest and the attempted intimidation, the campaign activity of the PTS-FIT continues in Constitución, No pasarán!”, published La Izquierda Diario.
